Rob Chadd
Candidate for Board of Selectmen


Robert “Rob” Chadd is a 3rd-generation Durham resident who has been married for over 22 years to his beautiful wife, Heather. They are proud parents to two daughters that are both currently enrolled at UConn. After graduating from Coginchaug H.S. in 1992 Rob joined the US Army and continued his service in the Army Reserves. In the Reserves, he trained to be a truck driver, mechanic, Unit Victim Advocate and Equal Opportunity Representative. In 1996, Rob deployed to El Salvador for 90 days to assist with the rebuilding of schools and vital infrastructure. He was deployed twice to Iraq (2003-04, 2009-10), both times serving under the 3rd Infantry Division. When Rob joined the Army, he also joined the Durham Volunteer Fire Company. Rob worked his way up the ranks, ultimately serving as Fire Chief from 2011-22. Rob also served on multiple committees including Public Safety Complex Cmt., By-Law Cmt., Engine 4 Cmt., Engine 3 Cmt., and Tanker Cmt.

After the Army, Rob Chadd became a communication systems architect in New Haven. He worked for Honeywell Life Safety in Northford as their lead Telecommunications System Specialist. He left Honeywell in 2007 to become a project coordinator in IT at the UConn Health Center. He later moved on to lead technical analyst/ Project Coordinator from there he was promoted to Assistant Director of Unified Communications and two years ago Rob again was promoted to Director of Unified Communications.
