Nicole Ercolani
Candidate for Regional Board of Education

>

Nicole and her fiance Bryan have lived in Durham since 2017. They have two children currently attending school in RSD13. Nicole was born and raised in Meriden, and she is a 2003 graduate of Orville H. Platt High school. Following her graduation, she attended Branford Hall and completed their Medical Assisting Program. She worked for many years at a private practice, specializing in the care of patients with rare and chronic illnesses.

Nicole continued to pursue her passion for healthcare, and is a 2016 graduate of Gateway Community College, with an Associates in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she has worked in a variety of fields, including mental health, adult med surg, and pediatrics. At the onset of the Covid pandemic, Nicole worked as a homecare nurse for Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, located in Wallingford. She consistently requested and accepted assignments in underserved neighborhoods, and believes that service of others is at the heart of a thriving community. In 2020, Nicole was recognized by Masonicare with the Covid Hometown Hero Award. She currently works as a school nurse, caring for elementary aged students. She is an active member of the American Nurses Association and CTNA. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, art, and attending church services.

After moving to Durham, Nicole participated as a member of the EDI town committee. She coached k-2 cheerleading for the Durham Falcons, and has volunteered at their Durham fair booth. Nicole was a vocal advocate for RSD13 parents during the Covid pandemic. She found valuable resources to support families who were struggling. In spring of 2022, she participated as a parent representative in the district's Reimagining Education workshop. She attended last years RSD13 internet safety seminar, and continues to believe that student safety should be a top priority in the district. Nicole's experience working in the school setting gives her a unique perspective to the challenges of implementing policies in an educational environment. She believes that adversity is an important component of character development, and wants to ensure RSD13 students feel challenged and supported to reach their full potential.
