Candidate for Planning and Zoning Commission Alternate


Jim has lived in Durham for 47 years, along with his wife, Mary, a retired OR nurse. They have two grown children. He currently serves the town as the Chair of Board of Finance, as a member of the Durham Senior Board, and an alternate on Inland Wetlands. Jim has a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Research from Northeastern University and M.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in counseling and psychotherapy from the University of New Haven. Jim's first career was as a Connecticut State Parole Officer. During part of that time, he was also functioning as the Chief training officer and firearms instructor. Jim is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. He has been a hockey coach, a mentor, as well as a hearing arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau. Jim has for years been active in his church serving as a lector, a eucharistic minister, a member of the parish council, and as chair of the finance committee. Jim's second career was as an insurance agent and investment consultant, more recently, concentrating solely on his investment consulting practice. His goal in asking to be elected is to keep the town of Durham moving forward as a great community for people to live in.
