James E. Piotrowski
Candidate for Planning and Zoning Commission

Jim is a lifelong resident of Connecticut, receiving a BS degree in chemistry from the University of Connecticut. Jim worked as a chemist for 14 years at a bearing and automotive parts manufacturer in Bristol. When that facility closed Jim went back to school and received a JD with honors from Quinnipiac University. This started his second career as an attorney.

Jim moved to Durham with his wife Ellen and son Chris 19 years ago and they continue to enjoy the lifestyle provided here. The family's most recent venture is raising beef cattle. Chris went through RSD13, graduating in 2016. Jim and the family have volunteered with many groups through the years, running PTO activities, manning Durham Fair booths and parking lots and coaching with Special Olympics.

Jim has been an alternate on the Planning and Zoning Commission for almost 4 years and was seated in most of the meetings. Jim's goal as a Commission member has been, and will continue to be, increasing industrial, commercial and agricultural opportunities in Durham while maintaining the rural feel of our community. Jim looks forward to election as a full member of the Planning and Zoning Commission to continue this important work.
